Does anyone know how water tight the storage compartment in the center console in an '18 LX is? My previous LX had the cold box, but didn't want the entertainment system so my new one doesn't have the cold box. Thinking about putting some frozen cold packs in the storage area under the arm rest to keep some drinks cool. Anyone have any thoughts on this plan?
Out in a heavy duty plastic leak proof liner first to contain any potential leaks.

If I was going to use cold packs, I'd put the cold packs into some zip-seal bags to prevent any leakage from "sweat". And I'd put anything that would condensate into bags as well. Then you don't have to worry about water/leakage/condensation/spills.
Your center console space does not have a drain, whether or not you have the oem cool box.
I don't think the amount of "sweat" from blue ice or similar would be enough to worry about, but I would wash and dry the console box on a regular basis, with a bit of Clorox. I test drove an '11 LX without the cool box...instead it had a plastic mesh bucket with handle that might be helpful to organize drinks..
I use the official eBay Land Cruiser storage tray which works well over the cool box, but I miss the storage space in our 100 series.
