Since we've seen videos of the LX 570, we didn't think a patch of wet grass would prove too much trouble for our tester. But we were wrong, and we can't help but feel a little embarrassed here. Read about our not-so-excellent adventure here...

 

It's all about the tires. I always say that the stock tires should be replaced as soon as possible with some AT tires on 18" wheels. It's a shame that Lexus does not offer some AT tires as an option. Purchasing LX for driving just on highways does not make any sense.

 

The Dunlop Grandtreks are terrible. They have shallow tread and little traction. Like Clayton said, this truck should come with LT (not P-rated) tires. It is the best and most important upgrade you can make.

Yeah, it seems like some LT rubber should be offered from the factory — even if most people wouldn't opt for them. It would certainly prevent stuff like this from happening. If I was going off-road, I'd likely opt for the BFG K02s. I drove on those in Mexico a couple years back, and they were simply incredible.

 

There is wet grass and then there is a wet bog. If you visit Florida after a rain, locals know not to pull off the road unless done carefully as you will sink into this deep mud no matter how green the grass is on top!

Even with the proper tires I have seen vehicles they weight much less get mired up to the axels instantly.

 

The ground can be like quicksand down here after a rainstorm.

 

I lived in Florida for ten years, and we always laughed you could always tell a tourist if they leave the top down and run into the grocery store. Locals know it can go from blue sky to tropical downpour in like 15 minutes. Ha ha.

 

Never tried to go thru" swampy grass, but even with stock wheels and tires I've never had a problem on snow and even ice, driving defensively and respecting the laws of physics being key, naturally

 

Did you dig yourself in before you tried the nannies or did the nannies put all those mud on the tires and dug you in? I don't like the 21 inch treads, but the ground/grass does not appear to be that mush. When I park on grass, I typically have one side on hard surface or at least get half a tire on. Rocking the truck only digs yourself in deeper; I am surprise the girls didn't get mud on them too. If there is a next time, crawl with a board on 1 tire or get AT tires.If this SUV can't get you out, than no other truck or car (with similar) tires will get you out either.

 

I wonder if Florida still allows liquor stores to sell mixed drinks for the road at drive-through windows? One of the things I recall about my time in the Navy was the line of cars waiting for drinks at the local Jax Liquors near the Mayport Naval Base drive thru at evening rush hour. Back then we had beer vending machines on base (25 cents per beer) and mixed drinks at happy hour on base were 50 cents.
