I was driving under no influence on a Sunday morning, and this message popped up. There were freeway road constructions, so there were several temporary lane markers and faded ones as well. What would prompt the LX to show this message? Is it a driving pattern, some kind of sensors on the steering wheel, or may be a facial recognition if I am sleepy? I read about these sensors in the public technology section of publications, but I don't think it has been incorporated into the LX yet.

 

According the user manual, it's based on a vehicle sway:
"Sway warning (if equipped): Detects the sway of the vehicle within a lane, which is often associated with a decrease in the driver’s attention level, and displays the decrease in attention using a bar display. The shorter the bar length, the more the driver may need to rest."

According my experience, it's not very useful. For example, if there is an extremely strong side wind and you need to correct your driving path quite often, you can get this warning after a few minutes of driving. Also the same happens if there are problems with lane markings (as you mentioned).
You get also the same warning after driving for about three hours without stopping (it just measures the time).

 

If it can't be turned off then it is way, way too much help from some Government.

 

If you don't want that annoying text, you just turn off the lane departure assist off, and you won't see that message again.

 

It can be switched off. You can also change the sensitivity. See "8-2. Customization" at your Owners Manual (for '16 LX).

 

I get the same message and hit return and ignore it. If I ever let my teenage boy drive it I would be very beneficial for him, but too bad he wouldn't find out...
