I'd strongly argue against a lease and in favor of a purchase, unless you've got one of 2 situations occurring...

Either you and your CPA can write the truck off as a business expense, or

...you can't really afford the purchase price but for some reason you've just got to have more than you can afford.

If the truck is for business, I guarantee you can find a better lease deal away from the dealer at a lease broker.

I wonder why.

I would think a lease deal in most situations will make the dealer money. The dealer is turning down money you are ready to hand over? If I'm the owner of that Lexus dealer, I'll be firing that salesperson on the spot.

Maybe the dealer is a small one and only get a few LX a year? But even if true, the dealer can "trade" with another Lexus dealer to locate what you want.

Good price, I would buy one if I was in the market for that price.

Agreed - to find a 2010 with that low mileage is hard enough, but under $40k is a good buy. Congrats!

I just noticed that the dealership that sold me my '17 six days ago has slashed the (asking) prices of the six '17s on their lot by $3K (about $6K below MSRP).

That kind of depends upon maintenance records. Assuming they're regularly done, I think you did well. Only reference I can give you is my own...a '13 Land Cruiser, 1 owner with great records...50K miles. Listed at $58K, I offered $50K cash out the door and drove her home that afternoon. That was toward the end of August 2015.

Thanks guys.

maint records good through 33k, nothing but lof and brakes and a bad tpms

then the selling dealer did lof prior to sale.

Wife is an insurance broker and has a deal on 100k 3yr warranty with $100 deductible for $1200.

Seems prudent to go with it, no?

We had to have the steering rack replaced on her rx330 and it saved us $$$; same carrier/policy.

I passed 2X on an extended warranty on my Cruiser and I advised the F & I guy that if he asked me one more time about the warranty, I'd take a cab to the airport and fly home. That's my general attitude. In this case, the cost is cheap and for another $1200 I'd go for it. Pics required.

I understand. Dealer wanted $2700 for the same warranty; so $1500 in their pocket as pure profit.

The F&I lady "could not believe" our price.

Was quoted $1100/m with $2200 down @ 36/10 on a 2017 $99400 car ...$7500 off MSRP and inflated money factor. So, roughly, it was a national lease offer for the Midwest
