Default 2016 LX now on dealer lots in So. Cal

I saw one 2016 LX in dealer prep on Friday. Will test drive another one tomorrow at a So Cal dealer. Exterior didn't look that different from what I could see-- I was surprised. Interior from my limited look was awesome.

I have a 2005 LS daily driver and 2003 LX weekend/ trip vehicle. Thinking I can combine both in the 2016 LX. However I am thinking a 2016 GX may be all the space I need. I really like the big navigation and camera screen on the LX. The GX feels crisper to drive versus the 2015 LX. My wife thinks she will get less carsick in mountain driving in the smaller GX versus the longer LX. One key factor is the different types of adaptive cruise control on the 2016 LX versus the the 2016 GX. I love the radar cruise in my LS with automatic distancing from the car in front, but it is not all speed and is useless in stop and go and slow speed freeway driving. The LX now has all speed cruise standard. The GX only offers adaptive cruise that cuts off at low speed. Will compare in my test drive tomorrow. And there is the 30k price difference, LX vs GX. Any advice on my decision?

If she likes your 2003 LX470, then the GX may work. About the same size.

I have a 2007 LX470 and pickup a 2013 LX570 next week. I know the LX470 will feel like a sports car after I get in the 570. ;-) GX might work, but not on the same frame quality as the LX, but see tons of them around here and my Lexus Service Rep loves their's.

Have any links I can see? I can't seem to find any advertised for those prices.

Not LX's, but North Park in SA has two AutoTrader Listings at $73K

I have a 2014 LX 570. Best SUV ever. I am waiting for my '16. I live in the Dominican Republic, and with the import tax my dealer said it will be about 155,000 usd. I just bought the wife a '16 BMW X5. I hate it totally. I can't even begin to tell you the problems. The other choice was the GX for her. She decided on the X5 as the tech is more updated then the GX but I should have held the fort. Never again.

I would say there are many elements that make it feel like a 4th gen car with a few bits that hint toward the 3rd gen still.
^^^THIS^^^

WIth all-new sheetmetal (except the doors), cosmetic elements, and electronics I would think that if this 2016 LX570 is considered to be a simple "refresh", there is a marked difference from the 2015 model it replaces. They look quite different just for starters. Saw them both next to each other yesterday. I was shocked at how much had changed....for example, we saw the refresh of the LS460, and while the car in many ways (and not in others) is SIGNIFICANTLY cosmetically different, the engines and many underbits remain the same...

(edit)in double-checking this forum, I see the newer 2013+ LS460s are also lumped-in with their prior siblings, going back to 2007...hmm...
in retrospect, perhaps the standards here of a what a next-generation vehicle is, go much deeper than just sheetmetal and electronics.

because it's still the same chassis. it's not a new generation, it's just a major facelift

lexus generations are defined by the chassis. fwiw, even people inside lexus don't consider the new lx (or current ls) as new generation

That was my assumption/observance...even though everything else looks different, the heart is still the same chassis...just a different transmission with the same engine. Looks would suggest differently...you'd think. Thanks!

yup, lexus definitely went very different (and interesting) route on the ls and lx

actually the side profiles of both cars (ls and lx) look pretty much identical to pre-facelift, but front and rear got quite a lot of upgrades
