Is anybody here running larger diameter tires? I am thinking of going to a 285/55/20 on
my 2008 LX570 but knowing how sensitive some vehicle sensors/electronics are, I wanted to know what others have experienced with this model. I know some folks have run 305/35/24 which are a little over 1" taller than stock and wanted to hear feedback. TIA

 

I am currently running 275/65r20 Cooper Zeon LTZs on my 2013. I have had only minor rubbing on the front mud flap (it protrudes a bit off the wheel well on my LX) when I am reversing and turning the wheel in the neutral height. Interesting enough, I have had no rubbing in my driveway when I lower it.

 

Thanks for the reply. Is there any noticeable difference in shift points? Did you recalibrate your gps and does that affect the speedometer readings, etc?

 

I am not sure about the shift points, because I only had the stock tires on for >1000 miles. But I have not noticed any difference, besides that they ride a little rougher (which was expected). The stock tires to me felt like riding on marshmallows, the all terrains feel a bit more proper and still is a more comfortable ride than any other vehicle on the road.

I did not have the speedo re-calibrated, but I am personally not very concerned with a change of a few MPH.

Typo on my part, I am running 275/60r20. I use to run 275/65s on my old tahoe.

 

Couple of questions? How do you like these tires with the AVS and AHC? The reason I ask is stock tires weigh 41 lbs, and these tires weigh 53 lbs. Just want to know how the LX handles that additional unsprung weight? Your the only owner I have found that has these big AT tires on a LX and I am looking at options so your input would be great. How long have you been running the larger tires? Any rubbing or negative?

 

I recently purchased a 2014 LX. I am also interested in putting larger tires on the LX. I was looking at either 285/55R20 or maybe 285/60R20 AT tires on.

For the mean time, I replace the stock Dunlop tires with the 285/50R20 Cooper Zeon LTZ tires I pulled off of my old vehicle before I sold it.

I actually think the ride is better with the Coopers on, and I like the look of the tires a lot more. I usually keep the AVS in the normal position.

I am looking at either the BFG AT K/02 (when the size is available) or the Goodyear All-Terrain Adventure with Kevlar. I had the Goodyear SilentArmor on an LR3 and absolutely loved them.

 

You and I are on the same track. Do you know what your 285/50R20's weigh? The BFG's are LT "D" rated tires that makes them really heavy. I would bet in this size around 58 lbs. That's 17 lbs over stock weight, a lot of additional unsprung weight. I want to know what that does to the ride and handling?

 

It looks like Amazon is putting the shipping weight of the 285/50R20 Zeon at 50lbs. Lighter than I would have expected.

 

I also found on another forum where a guy weighed the 275/60R20 at 53lbs.

 

275/55/20 Dura techs weigh around 48 lbs. They are good looking tires. On another forum a guy that had the 60 series said he doubted I would be able to "see" a difference between "55" series and "60" series. Since I'm not going off road I will end up with either Bridgeston Alenza's in the stock size or the MicHelin LTX AT'S in 275/55/20 size.

I wimped out and ordered a set of stock 285/50/20 MicHelin Latitude 112V, designed for my LX570 and should be good for 40k miles rated for 55K miles. All reviews indicate great handling, quiet, on road tire.

 

Do you have pics of the Coopers on your LX? That's another option I'm considering, though I have my eye on the Toyo Open Country AT2 in 285/55/20, which is what prompted me to start the thread.
