Default Instructions for replacing fog lights?

Hello all, I find myself needing to replace at least one fog light (busted out while at valet) and was thinking that I might upgrade to the new 2014 LED fog lights. Does anyone have instructions for replacing fog lights on the LX570? I have searched for a while and haven't turned up anything specific to the LX570.

Thanks!
Bryan

I don't own an LX but I'm pretty sure you can access the fog housing underneath by removing the undercarriage cover. The fogs are usually held on by 2-3 screws. If accessing them underneath or through the wheel well doesn't work out, you might have to remove the bumper.

I found a "how-to" under the RX forum:

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...-sewell-2.html

Changing the fogs for the LX was similar, primary difference was that each fog light is held in place with two screws instead of one.

Also, I found that the wires were reversed on my fog light harness (this isn't a problem for incadescant lights, but caused the LEDs not to work). I was able to reverse the wires by popping out the green plastic guide inside the connector and then pushing in on the sides of the leads to release each wire. Not quite the same as http://my.is/forums/f221/diy-repinni...ectors-442984/ but similar.

Not quite plug and play, but not rocket science either.

As an aside, I wonder if all 2013 LX 570's have their fog light connectors wired backwards?

I have a 2013 without the LED fog lamps as well. I just received the updated ones like on the 14 and 15 models. I will be tackling this upgrade on Wednesday. Thanks for the instructions on this. Anyone else done it yet?

Do you have to take off the tire or just turn the wheels in to access the inner fender well panel? Thank you.

As I recall, just turn the wheels and you can access it. Way more room in my 2013 LX570 vs my other RX450H and CT200H when I did the fogs for all three vehicles.

BTW, make sure you wear some type of gloves, i.e., some type of thin nitrile gloves so you don't touch the bulb and leave oil which will prematurely burn the bulb out. Also protect the bulb so it does not touch and get oil containment on the bulb itself .

Lastly, make sure you wear a thick long sleeved shirt or wrap some thick shop towels/rags around the forearm which you will reach into the wheel liner area to get the old bulb out and put the new led bulb in. If you don't, you will have multiple cuts and abrasions on your forearm as you reach in and on your way pulling out. Hope your tetanus is up to date😀. LOL. Seriously, please be careful and use protection.

Any follow-up on this? Are the updated OEM LED fogs a worthwhile upgrade to the halogen lamps?

I found this on eBay and posted on the CT200H forum.

It will fit also 2008 to 2014 LX570 according to the vendors's description.

It is $61 for a pair. The one I posted is for 3000K yellow color. They have the 6000K/6000k color too, as I recall.

Please see below for more details:

Sure you can always order the LED headlight as an option from the dealer, but at what cost?

I happened to do a search on eBay and found the following for $61 for a pair (in 3000K color LED fog lights with the entire light housing assembly) that will fit CT200h all years according to the vendors website. Please note that I have no relation to the vendor and just wanted people to know that this option is available.

Good evening, I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I just got done tackling the led change out on our 2013 LX570. I ended up ordering the factory led fog lamps for the 14,15 models. I installed one with not much of an issue. BPATE is correct, the wiring is indeed backwards. I ended up chickening out on changing the wiring around. I might end up going to a professional, but I purchased some vleds here-> http://www.vleds.com/shop-applicatio...ght-bulbs.html . I got the 5K, the color looks pretty good. They feel built well. I have no idea on how long they will last. Time will tell. In the first couple of pictures, you can see what the factory fog lamps look like from the backside. There are plates underneath each side that makes access pretty easy. Picture# 3 shows a close up of the new vled on.I think this picture shows the color output the best. Picture# 4 Shows the old incandescent light ( left ) and the new vled ( right ). Picture# 5 shows the job done at night. Hope this helps some folks down the road.
