I agree the remote start should not shut off when opening the door. **** poor design.

My Ram 3500 had the factory remote start. If you did not insert the fobik (Rams term for remote) within 10 minutes it shut down, you got 1 more hit on that same restart mode, after that you had to use the traditional method of getting your lazy carcass into the drivers seat to do the deed.

My wife's 2014 fleet vehicle has the remote start and push button start, works the same as the Ram did. She loves it as she always has the heat going full blast! Nice and toasty for her when she's ready to cruise the Virginia highways and byways!

PS: Warning if you are having anything other than factory start installed. Make sure the installer is going to be around if problems crop up or servicing it . Since it's not a Lexus job or part, Lexus WILL NOT stand behind what others install. It's COE (Customer's Own Equipment). Been there, done that, got the t-shirt! This goes for anything not just the remote start. Stuff can go wrong and your first line is always the dealer's throat that installed it. If it's electrical or mechanical it's got to break sometime.

 

Reporting back after more than a year with Viper. I love this thing! It’s great to remote start from anywhere and have your defrost working while snow is piled up and iced over. I haven’t carried a single key (not even a house key) or FOB remote since. I only carry the smart key in my wallet (never have to look for my keys or lose them). I highly recommend doing this.
