Premium fuel really needed?

Talked with Lexus dealer lead tech. No difference in oil or engine, it's just marketing. The Market wants longer maintance intervals and low maintance cost. So Lexus knows that 10k with their 0w20 synthetic in this engine is not a problem. How I wonder about the need for premium fuel?
I get much better gas mileage with premium. I check every time I fill and I stopped using regular after awhile as it was not as efficient.
I never heard any pinging or anything on regular though it seems to run just fine. For the extra $209-$300 a year I'll just use premium

I picked up my new LX570 last night and I would bet that the dealer filled it up with regular!
This thread is so old, I even posted in it a few years ago! LOL!
I checked the difference many years ago in my 2012LX and the difference was very small, not worth the extra money for sure. BUT, each to his own, I was stuborn and did Premium for a long time until there becase such a difference in price and then went to regular. Gaining two horse power for using Premium is not worth it to me.

Like I said, I did for a long time but will not do it again.
On regular the LX will seldom if ever ping. The computer takes care of these things to make sure it does not.
On my LX470 it says Premium fuel recommended. On my LX570 it says REQUIRED. My CLS 63 AMG also said required. Recommendations from the OEM is one thing, required is a different story. Since it might make a difference I will error on the side of caution. But I've owned a lot of Lexus products and never heard of anyone having a problem from using Regular. Which most LX470 owners seem to do.

Merry Christmas.

Test drove a 2011 LX570 yesterday, checked out a 2014 Land Cruiser today...both dealers admitted its the same powertrain on both rides and 87 is ok to run in the LC and LX. Ok does not mean optimal, but for those who don't want to justify the cost, the suv will still keep on running

Though I'm not saying anything new, the LX a little more plush and interior equipment/quality of leather was pretty evident compared to the newer LC...
Great logic

Got to clip on pic to open and turn it right side up.
