I'm in the market for an LX570, either new or used. I have the luxury of being patient re my purchase. One of our current vehicles has radar cruise and I find it to be one of the most desirable features a new vehicle can have. Yet when looking at LX's on the lot or used on the net, I have yet to see a single one w/ radar cruise installed. The only post I've seen talking re a member's experience with radar cruise is from a Canadian member. I'm in San Diego. Is this option actually available in the US or not?
Pagemaster, thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, my question isn't whether radar cruise is a listed option (you are correct that it's packaged with the pre-collision system on the options list), it's whether anyone in the US actually has an LX with this option. I've probably seen 40-50 LX's (new and used, 08s and 09s) and haven't found one with this option. The people at Lexus of Cerritos told me yesterday that they have never received an LX with the radar cruise/PCS option. Then they checked inventory throughout the western US and didn't see a single LX with it. Lack of this option isn't necessarily a deal-killer for me, but I'm can't believe that you can spend 85k on a Lexus and not get it. It's readily available on Toyota Sienna minivans. Hard to figure.
I was looking to buy a LX570 and the dealership told me that the PCS and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control was not available in the US yet. It is list on the website but you can't get it. Not sure if it is coming for the 2010 models.
Wanting to get a nationwide perspective (versus the local dealer's perspective) on the PCS/Radar Cruise issue I clicked the Lexus Chat button on the Lexus website. Turned out to be a waste of about 15 minutes because of the long amount of time the "expert" spent researching the question. I cut and pasted the text conversation below. ALar is the Lexus "LX expert"-
ALar: Welcome to Lexus Chat. How may I help you?
ERC4: Website shows PCS/radar cruise as an available option on the LX570. But, I've never seen an LX in the US with this option on the vehicle. Is this option available in reality?
ALar: I will be happy to look into that for you. One moment please.
ALar: I do show the 2009 LX570 being available with our Pre-Collision System (PCS) with Dynamic Radar Cruise Control as an option, A possible reason you are unable to find an LX570 with our PCS system is because not all vehicle configurations are commonly available in all areas.
ERC4: My question is not whether it shows as an option. I am aware that it does. Please look into inventory anywhere in the US and tell me what's the nearest dealer to zip code 92130 that actually has an LX with PCS/DRCC in stock.
ALar: I apologize, we have designated this chat session for basic product and certain topic information, Your request is a little beyond what we can assist with here, We ask that you please contact your local Lexus dealer or call us at 800-255-3987
I tried to order PCS with dynamic radar cruise control last October and finally gave up after 3 weeks of the dealer "looking into it". The vague reply was that certain options are only available in certain regions. Lexus falls short as far as any kind of special orders.
I have confirmed that PCS w/ radar cruise does exist in the U.S. I found a PCS/RC in Sacramento, one in Utah and one in Texas. I passed on the Sacramento LX due to the color and options not matching what we wanted. I passed on the Utah and Texas LX's due to unrealistic pricing by the dealer once they found out I really wanted the PCS/RC. Thus, I have decided to wait a few months and custom-order a 2010 from a So Cal dealer who will give me a fair price. For those who don't want to special order they seem to be 1% or less of LX's, but they do exist. They are very difficult to find as the dealers often don't even know they have one and there's no specific MSRP that'll tip you off that its a PCS/RC.
