Default Finally have it--and a cursory review

Traded in my LX470, and really hated to see it go. Until I saw my new LX570 and drove it. WOW!!

The power is just such a breath of fresh air compared to the 470. Believe it or not, the 570 is actually quieter than the 470.
I can barely hear this engine. The shifting of gears is a hair more pronounced than the 470--maybe due to the increase in power??
Fit and finish...the 570's interior is just superb!! Interior simply has more luxury appearance than the 470.
Also, the exterior--this is SO much more attractive in person. It is more masculine and attractive. Already over the last two days, 2 people have already commented on how great this truck looks. Pictures for sure do not do this 570 any justice at all.
I have driven all the competition over the last several months...I am very glad i held out for this.

Couple things I have a question about to those who have one. The exterior side mirrors have a 1/4 inch perimeter around it that does not dim at night. Has anyone noticed this?? It is actually a bit annoying.
Also, has anyone noticed the gear shifter moving while driving? Mine shakes a bit, very similar to what my 470's 4-LO gear shifter would do.

Please guys...any questions, just ask. I seriously could not be happier.

I thought the same thing when I saw the Lx570 blended in with other cars in Calgary.

PEMARSH, congratulations!!!
I felt bad saying it when I forst got the 570 but it makes the 470 feel "tinny"(never thought I would say that)

I totally noticed the mirror thing and I just dont anymore.
Also the shifter, I noticed that and it used to bug but not anymore. Note that when you set the suspension from "sport" to "Comfort" you will notice a difference in how much the gear shifter moves (dont know why, I'm just pretty analytical and notice those little things)

PEMARSH
Could not be more happy for you. I never notices the mirrors not darkening on the edges. Going to Ruth Chris tonight and I will check it out! I know you will enjoy, it took a while before all the extra power stops going to my head! It does allow you to drive with some ATTITUDE and I have surprised a few other vehicles with a little faster acceleration than they planned on!

But chill as the 570 is also heavy and the laws of physics still apply!

Enjoy but lets see some images!

It is funny how different people see the same thing differently.

I went at checked out the LX570. Test drove it. I think I'll skip the 570 generation indeed and keep the 470 despite right now is the chance to upgrade with no large price difference (the 570 here is actually 17k less than the 470 was). The exterior is not as ugly (just unattractive) in person. The interior actually looks better in pictures than in person. It's got more power, but I don't experience the lack of it in the 470 either. The non-removable 3rd row will not work for me, the instrument cluster is looking like taken from an american vehicle, overall size is slightly larger, the ride was not that much different either. My wife and I walked away pretty disappointed.

That's suprising to hear how much the new car disappointed you guys. I didn't dislike our 470, just liked the 570 more. (also your '06 has much more HP than my 05 did)

Difference in perception is amazing. I loved my LX470, had three of them but the 570 just blew them out of the water in my opinion, almost in every way. The only thing I found was that the LX470 seemed to be slightly more smooth and quiet but lacked power even when I was not towing the boat in comparison to the 570 which handled it all with ease.

Pemarsh, I'm surprised to hear that you traded in your LX. In the 470 forum you seemed dead set on getting the most $ for your LX. Did you get a deal you just couldn't pass up?

I agree with your comments about the 570. My wife fell in love with the demo they had here in Austin on the showroom floor. She was sold on it the minute she found out the 570 had power folding rear seats!

Enjoy your new Lexus!

I tried selling it private--not one phone call in 10 days!
One interesting thing--my dealer said they are getting phone calls everyday for people willing to pay thousands over msrp in order to get a 570. Has anyone here paid more than msrp? Even is someone has, i really dont think they are going to admit it here.

Here (admittedly, this is Canada) a couple of LX570s seem to be sitting at the local dealership near me, for the last three months. And afaik they sold one, actually it was pre-sold. So far has seen one on the road, but that's about it. I don't really have good visibility into the sales figures, but it does not look like they are exactly flying off the lots.

Hey AKoch.

Lexus sold 47 LX570 in the month of March for Canada. In total, Lexus sold 556 SUVs in the month and the LX represented just 47. With that being said, if you look at the year over year increase the LX increased 1075% over the year before. http://www.newswire.ca/en/releases/a.../01/c9456.html

Here in Oakville they have a silver demo model that is base trim and two others that are loaded with the bubinga wood and rear tvs. One is black with beige and the other is also silver or blue. I am not sure about BC but the LX570 is subject a $3000 green tax on top of everything else. Perhaps you can elaborate on BC?

In contrast. The Toyota/Lexus dealer that I go to in Toronto still has a 2007 LX470 black/gray sitting on the showroom floor. Total discount of MSRP is $21,000 and the SUV has still not moved.

Down in the US. The LX570 is moving very well and so is the Toyota Land Cruiser. Both combined amount to close to 1000 unit sales in a month.
The Lx570 I think has the shortest time on lot out of any vehicle right now. A lot of people have waited a long time for this model and from what I have heard and have been reading the Lx570 is not dissappointing.

So far has seen one on the road,
The LX570 looks really good when mixed in with street traffic. I have seen two on the road.

That's the reason I was surprised to see two sitting on the lot for so long. The LX470 was grossly overpriced here I'm surprised they sold any lately. Now that the new LX570 model came up, and the price was adjusted (still more than in the US, but the gap is less nevertheless) I would have expected a bit more activity. As you mentioned, a lot of people had waited for some time. Heck, I was really waiting for one myself.

There is no 'green tax' for 3k here in BC afaik.

$21,000 discount off MSRP of $101,000 would be $80,000. Not a whole lot of a discount for a 2007 model considering the current 2009 model year arriving or the fact that the LX570 is $84,000. And if that remaining one happened to be of that infamous 'anniversary edition', then the MSRP is nice $105,000 figure to begin with Hard to sell a two-year truck for more money than the newer model.

yeah you would really want to have a 100 series model to get the lx470. There are some finishing details that are a little nicer in the Lx470 but it is a dated design compared to the new model. Also with the Lx470 the gas tax is a little higher at $4000 in Ontario
