Default Interesting Logic by Toyota/Lexus

In a strange twist of logic, Toyota has finally got it right on the LX570 and TLC. Basically, the LX570 will get the XREAS-like system, which is basically for on-road performance. The new TLC will get KDSS which is beneficial on-road and very cool off-road. KDSS rocks off-road!

In the past, i always wondered why the 4runner got XREAS while GX470 got KDSS. There are more off-roading people who own 4runners than GX. Well, looks like Toyota got it right this time.

What is also interesting is that the TLC does not get the air suspension that is in the LX570. Instead, it gets KDSS system, which is cool by me!

So, it looks like Toyota is thinking that most owners who do take their luxSUV off-road will buy the TLC, while the high class soccer moms will buy the LX570. I kinda agree with that thinking.

That's nice that they at least included the KDSS since they saddled the '08 TLC with a crappy 20 deg departure angle

Default Which is better?

Is Xreas better than KDSS?

I just want the one that has the least wallowing on the road. I care more for road handling than off road. I hate body roll. Ive narrowed it down to the LX570 or the GL 550 which ever one has the best on road ride is the one I am buying.

Electronic XREAS is probably better on-road than KDSS. KDSS is good for handling, but the ride is not as smooth due to the large anti-roll bars.

In all likelihood, the GL550 will ride better than GX570 for one simple reason...GL has all independent suspension.

I meant LX570, So the new LX570 will have XREAS?

I know the GL550 will also be good on the road due to unit body construction vs body on frame like the LX570 but I love the LX570 interior and electronic goodies better than the GL550.

I've been in Sport 4runners, and own a KDSS GX. The GX has less body roll then a Sport 4runner due to the large sway bars, and lets off tension to the sway bars when the road gets bumpy, giving it a comfortable ride.

Dan, doesn't your KDSS tighten the antiroll bars above 18 mph or something?? If that's the case, then at normal on-road speed, KDSS will likely result in a firmer ride.

Not that I'm aware of...If I'm not mistaken, KDSS is completely mechanical.
