Seat (bolster) wear preventative measures
I just bought an LX that is in brand new condition; red seats. I’m a huge fan of Leatherique; but wanted to get advice pertaining to preventative seat wear measures. Preventative is probably the wrong choice of word, but slow down the wear.
Outside of seat covers; is there anything I can do besides trying to land on the middle of the seat getting in?
thanks in advance

We have the same issue with our 2014 - beautiful inside and out - caramel leather (I think) seats, but a little veining wear is beginning to show on the 'bolster' driver's side. - I'll be watching for suggestions. Thank you.
The only preventative measure I know of, besides putting seat covers on, is to take care entering and exiting the car. I see my kids dragging their butts across the bolster (getting in and out) and can tell it’s going to wear it out more quickly than my careful approach, which is more getting up and down. Start looking for a good leather repair/replacement place now. 😢
I’m going to proactively Leatherique the seats when it gets super hot out. If we keep them moisturized it will make a huge difference. If you haven’t used Leatherique you need to look into it. Nothing compares. It’s an old formulation & you will be in pure shock when you see the results. I’ve seen it take horribly dirty/cracked seats & make them look WAY better. If you Leatherique your seats once a year; they’ll look amazing for twice as long. If you’ve never used it; I truly suggest you buy it now. You can google transformation photos.
vacuum your seats, apply the Leatherique oil (slather it on every leather surface), put the car outside on a hot day~ it allows the oil to penetrate deeply, THEN you use their cleaner to remove the oil. You’ll be thrilled with the results. I’ve used it for years.
I’ve never used it on perforated seats though; anyone used it with perforations? Just curious if the cleaner gets the oil out of the holes or they stay clogged. A Ferrari friend is adamant that it works well on ventilated seats. Almost all of the exotic car guys use this stuff. Especially the older cars that you can’t replace the leather.
if anyone has any other sear suggestions; please advise.
thanks everyone

Compared to Leatherique these products have about zero cleaning ability. Can't say if they offer any protection or not.
I know that you didn't want seat covers, but I have used sheepskin covers on all my cars for 20+ years (LXs,LSs,Tundras, ect). They offer great protection, are cool in the summer and warm in the winter. When I replace a car and take them off the seats look like new. No regrets!

I have, was very nervous it would cause problems. After using both stages of Leatherique I used several damp with pure water microfiber towels to draw out any remaining product. Don't know if that was necessary or not perforations were not clogged. Results were typical Leatherique which is to say spectacular.

I was concerned about the ventilated seats not working as well. Does you vehicle have ventilated seats? If so, does it work the same as before leatherique?

The car I detailed (not mine) has no issues with the seats after treatment. BMW with vented seats.
You have no clue what you're talking about.

I was researching OEM seat cushion replacements; apparently they made an aniline & non aniline version of the seats. How could I determine the leather type mine came with? I found a OEM seat cushion w/leather, new for $325. That seems to be a great option if it matches my interior.
Appreciate it guys.
