Default Power antenna

On the verge of buying a 2006-2007 LX 470 and am wondering about the reliability of the power antenna. Are they likely to fail with normal wear? Are they expensive to replace?
Thanks in advance.

They wear out sooner or later. Issue shows up as hesitation or failure to move antenna, The antenna mast is moved via a nylon flat gear about 2.5 feet long. The flat gear never breaks, but the toothed side wears out as the gear teeth wear. It's easy to repair (10 minutes, less if you've done one before). You'll need a tool to remove the nut on top of the fender mount. Once that's gone, power the antenna up while holding the end of the mast. Stop when the end of the nylon cable is free of the truck. Reassemble in reverse order.

If you don't feel like replacing it, move it manually up or down. 30 inches is cut for the middle of the FM band.
