Looking at possibly getting this 2006 with 131k miles. Car was always maintained at Lexus but was a northern vehicle and has some surface rust. I attached a few photos from the seller. Was curious if the rust is too big of an issue?
That's not terrible; I've definitely seen worse. You'll likely have some rusty bolts and a few other challenges when its time to do suspension maintenance or add a lift, but if the rest of the LX is in great shape and is well maintained, that rust wouldn't ruin it for me.
Take a close look at the front sway bar links. They connect the ends of the bar to the lower a-arms. The basic test is to soak the fasteners with penetrating oil and try loosening them. Occasionally the link itself will break, but links, bushings, and fasteners are relatively cheap.
Certainly not terrible. Hopefully it's something you can mitigate, if not stop, given your NC location. Looks clean otherwise. Only you know if it's going to be a garage queen, or a daily driver that will accumulate miles and a few parking lot dings.
Price might be little bit high, I know it's a 2006 with decent miles, but close to $20K after tax. That is around what people are asking for near perfect rigs. Sometimes the 'perfect' rigs are well into the $20K range, but that seems astronomical to me.
