Angry Steering wheel locked...ignition key simply moves from lock to start and vise versa.

Hey guys I had blinking light issue 3 days ago - i did not bother- i drove everyday- yesterday it will not start- and steering wheel is locked....I red in forum and tried all tricks.... to unlock it but no success...key rotates all the way to start position but car does not start....nor do i get lights on dashboard...fyi its 2001 LX 470 and .battery is new .any helpful tips would be appreciated...

There as a rod inside the column attached to the ignition switch that has a tendency to break. I'll bet that is your priblem .

If it rotates easily the ignition Lock cylinder barrel rod I think it's called is broken. It's about a 4 inch long aluminum rod. It took me about 20 minutes to change. Buy one off eBay for about $35 and change it yourself. I had to touch mine up with a dremmel and file to make it fit perfect...took about 10 minutes to smooth out. Dealer wanted over $2k here in Canada to change the whole ingition cylinder assembly and rekey.
