Default I now have a 2001 LX 470

A quick hello from Portland Oregon. I am proud owner of a 2001 LX 470. I've always liked these, but hadn't expected to get one. A friend called me about 2 weeks ago, asking me some questions about selling a vehicle. I talked to him about it, and he said it was a 2001 Lexus SUV. I thought it was one of the smaller ones, which would have been too small for our large family, but offered to sell it for him anyway. When I found out what he had, I told myself, I'm buying it if I like it.

When I first saw it, it looked stunning and perfect. It has been in my possession for 2 weeks, and I can see some very insignificant flaws. Everything works other than the power antenna and the lower hatch gate. I can probably repair them myself.

It has right at 200,000 miles and feels like under 50,000 miles are on it. I've heard about the reputation of these vehicles, so the mileage not only doesn't bother me, it is low for that model year.

Congrats. What's the problem with the lower hatch gate? Never heard of those having issues.

I think he was backing up to his trailer which had the tongue so high, it his the license plate. That's where a dent is. I'm getting a new plate anyway, since I live in Oregon and not Idaho, so practically all evidence of the incident will be erased. There is, however, a slight bow inwards and I think it is enough to put a lot of tension on the catches. I don't want to break the release handle by pulling aggressively on it, so I'm being careful.
