Default How do get the oxygen sensor plug to release?

I have a 1999 LX470 and I can't get the oxygen sensor plug out. The sensor is loose, but plug end is troublesome. What is the trick?

I use a stainless steel or brass brush to remove any dirt, then a quick shot or 2 with silicone spray. Be sure you actuate the connector lock before pulling.
