First time trying this process, bare with we. My LX470 2004 (112K) dash indicator lights (Check Eng. / VSC Trac/ and VSC Off) warning lights are on. They do not blink but just stay on solid. Was told I could drive as long as I do not see blinking warning lights. Had O'Reilly check code and recorder trouble code ( p0051..c1244..c1233 and c1201). The list of possible repairs needed would lead me to purchasing a new car. Couple of mechanic told me could be the oxygen sensors 2-front and 2-rear. cost to replace $800+ local shops and $1,500 to $2,000 at dealer. NEED Advice
What do the codes indicate??...I think you're saying that they point to the O2 sensors, but replacing all 4 should not approach the purchase price of a new truck.
I have no idea of what an O2 sensor should run (you're looking for OEM or Denso sensors, not what's on sale at WalMart this week ), but let's say $100 each for parts. Based on my experience, it should take <2 hours if you're patient. If you need a special socket for the sensors, maybe another $20-30 tops.
Do you mind spending an hour or 2 under the truck? If not, start cleaning the sensor threads you can see with a small wire brush and applying Blaster or Liquid Wrench every day for a week prior to R&R-ing the sensors.
