Warning Lights On
Wife and I were coming home pulling into our driveway. While backing up,she says,"what are those lights that are on" ? I look down and see that 3 warning lights came on. The VSC Trac,VSC OFF, and the check engine light are all on.
We are going to bring it into the dealer, but, has this happened to any of you? If so,what was the problem?
As far as I know,no other buttons were pressed, such as the differential lock button. There were no noises, buzzing alarms, or any jerking.Truck drives fine.

yep - could be any number of things... O2 sensors, vacuum leak, loose gas cap, bad rear height sensor, cracked coil pack, bad MAF... etc. etc. The fault codes read thru the OBDII port (any national parts store will do for free) will point in a direction.
Since you're likely out of warranty, you may want to swing by the local parts store and have them read before blindly handing over to dealer. Most often, they'll also reset the system for free if it's generic misfire or O2 codes.
Good luck

I am not sure of the code number,I will just type hte line in the invoice below.
99 vehicle needs a/f sensor b 1 sl
Is 99 the code? When I see the words a/f sensor,I am inclined to believe thats a mass airflow sensor which would be on the throttle body. What do you think?
Also, wife said the part costs $400.00. Job is not done yet as its in review from Lexus Corporate. Wife had an appointment for this while vehicle was under warranty. We will know in 2 days.I will let you guys know what happened.

Hopefully they'll cover for you but otherwise B1S1 means it's on bank 1, sub1 (before cat). Now, this doesn't 100% mean sensor is bad (unless they actually tested it), just that the signal is not coming thru to the ECU (i.e. a corroded wire). Anyhow, part itself is ~ $130-200 (depending on where you buy it) and if you are going to replace, make sure you go w/ a Denso (OEM) or Bosch replacement - DO NOT use a generic one.
The MAF is located on the intake just aft of the engine air filter well before the throttle body. This is not what they are calling for.
If they call you back and say they won't cover, why not swing by a parts store to get the exact code read just to be sure (assuming lights are still on)? O2 and MAF problems can be tricky to track down correctly and quite costly when mechanics just start replacing parts to chase down problem as to opposed to testing the components accordingly ...

I think the b1s1 means Bank 1 Sensor 1. It is the O2 sensor located at the upper side of the exhaust pipe (before the cat converter). It is also called air/fuel ratio sensor. I just fixed the similar one (Bank 2 Sensor1, GX has two identical exhaust branches from each side of 4 cylinder) not long ago (https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gx-...-replaced.html). When it was bad, the truck showed exactly the same warning lights.
The OEM sensor is "Denso 234-4630 Oxygen Sensor (Air and Fuel Ratio Sensor)". It costs about $90 from Autozone or Advanced Auto Parts. It only cost $60 from Amazon with free shipping (http://www.amazon.com/Denso-234-4630...5710677&sr=8-1).
Hope the information will help you bargain down the repair cost.

Thank you BurgBoxstr and tz693 for your imput, I really appreciate it.
Wife spoke to the dealer today and they are going to warranty everything.
On another note,I was thinking it would be a good idea to clean the throttle body myself for preventitive maintenance. Is it a big deal to do?

It was CPO when we bought it and the warranty expired at the end of August. We had an appointment to bring the truck in in late August but we could not get there due to all the flooding on various roads. Lexus was kind enough to recognize that.
By the way tz693,I just read your tutorial on sensor replacement.Great job! Where did you get the oxygen sensor tool and how much was it?

tz693,
Excellent write up & pix in your DIY thread linked.
I'm sure others will come across this helpful post in the future, the correct OEM Bx-S1 O2 sensor is Denso 234-4138.
And as you stated, an O2 tool/socket/ is a must and some PB Blaster doesn't hurt either.
Again, nice write up for the community
