Default Couldn't Wait!

Guys I could't wait and I also just needed a new SUV, so I bought a 2002 LX470 Golden Pearl ext, ivory int. Loaded.....I actually never drove an LX before and it was amazing besides what I have heard. I am planning on trading it in in about 8 months for the new 2003 or I might even just wait a full year. Now for the questions:

Looking for rims, not sure what size but definately bigger than stock, any suggestions? I love chrome.

I will post pics as soon as I get a chance!!!!

Default LX470

CONGRADULATIONS!!

We bought our '02 LX470 in November. Got it fully loaded. Nothing else could be added. I am especially impressed with the GPS. Love that. Keeps arguments down between wife and I as to where we are and where we are headed, haha.

If I had a complaint it would be lack of power AND terrible gas mileage (15mpg) (but if we can afford this beauty - stop whinning about the gas - right?).

We are going to keep this guy for another year and get the LS 430UL. We bought a new LS400 in 1990 and loved it.

The comfort level in the 470 is beyond description, isn't it? We think it out classes the Escalade, MB, and the rest of the wanna be's in the SUV world.

Take care of this baby, and you will be one happy Dude (as the Dell man says). Have Fun!!

Yes!! Thank you, I believe that I am going to get the windows tinted a touch by Johnson Window Films, and I have gotten the scotch guard on the front to protect the paint a little. Towing hitch ect...Just looking for rims now, I believe that I don't want to go bigger than 18inches as I heard that it decreases the quality of the ride some.
Others have told me that I should stick with 16 inch stock rims or I will lose the intended feel of the LX. Then I know the Sales Parts Manager from lexus who says that I can go up to 18 inches and just get a nice tire with the rim and I will not feel difference...

The other concern is that I don't know what rims I should get, I think the Pirelli Scorpian tires will work, but as for rims do you guys have any suggestions???

Congrats!!!! 18" wheels would be a great + 2 size. Maybe you can get the 18" 2003 LX wheels?

Yes, I agree with you sick. The 18's on the 2003 are nice....I would like them in Chrome though. I decided to leave the stock rims on my 2k2 as I am planning on trading it in for the 2003 model. I only have 2 questions.

1.) How long before the 2003 will fix all of the bugs, so that the SUV will be perfect?

2.) Do I have to wait for the 2003 to be fixed or can I just get the new model as soon as it becomes available. Also, I saw in the japanese toyota web-site that their model comes in a true white, as the LX470 does not, (golden pearl) Will the new models be available with any new colors????

ps- Please feel free to post anything on this section.....man I am always alone in here....It will be another year before I can get the 2003 LS430 then you guys will see me post everyday!!

Honeslty, Lexus hardly ever has serious or any first year bugs. Remember the 2003 is a refreshing, not a totally new truck. Outside of anything like a NAV trouble (just an example), the LX should be perfect.

Lexus usually goes 2 years after a refreshing to debut an all new model.

I would think the sidewall on a 18" tire on a LX would still give you a plush ride. I do not know why the dealer would say that. If you get wider wheels and tires, the LX sure will feel more planted. On the other hand, dealer OEM wheel prices (especially chrome) are usually RIDICULOUS, usually $1700.

Ah No first year bugs. That would make sense since the 2003 IS NOT a full remodel. Thats good to know. Hopefully within a couple of months I should be grabbing the 2003 model. I just can't get enough of the 2002. I don't know why people bash it so. They complain about the power not being sufficient. That may be so, but I don't think that was a purpose of the LX. The ride is so soft and quiet, I believe it was totally biased towards comfort. As one auto mag put it: (the Lexus isn't boring, or exciting, yet that isn't its goal, it merely doesn't bother you)

I was going to opt for the GX until I saw the rear. I didn't like it at all. It turned me away, it looks like a 4-runner to me from the side.

man if I ruled the world......

I think it was Truck Trend the magazine that compared the new Escalase, Navigator, ML 430 and LX and Range, they basically said the LX 470 WAS ON ANOTHER LEVEL. It won the comparo. They said just sitting in the LX made them realize it was the winner.

Hey all,

I think choosing a LX470 is a very good choice over the GX470. Why?

Nothing in life is free, right?? A GX470 with all the goodies costs around the same as a Toyota Land Cruiser. Why??? GX470 is only SLIGHTLY smaller, yet it has many more features (Mark Levinson, memory seats, Lexus customer service, etc.). So, why?? Is Lexus generous??

For 97% of owners, this may not be important, but i am sure the Land Cruiser/LX470 has a stronger frame with higher quality structural support. The frame of the TLC/LX470 is considered to be the strongest of any body-on-frame SUV. It is kinda like a comparison between the TLC and Sequoia. Nothing is free...to get the GX470 that low means that Toyota/Lexus must do some cost-cutting. Since everything inside the GX is nice, i think they probably cut some corners in the frame and axle (smaller rear axle and less beefy front suspension). This is my guess...i could be wrong.

So, to all owners of LX470 and TLC, you made the right choice.

Thanks.
