Stereo problems
I'm new and apologize in advance if this thread is already out there. I am on my second replacement stereo for my 2000 lx470 and the cd player is stuck, tape deck makes a hissing noise-all that is working is the radio. Anyone know what my options are away from a dealer replacement? Still love my car, but with 100k miles, am reluctant to replace stereo with same model (especially ince I have already replaced it) Can I get a different stereo? Something with nav? If not, where can I buy replacement besides from dealer? Thanks Much!
i would go with a replacement headunit. there quite a few double din systems that will fit your vehicle. when my radio started giving me problems, i put in an eclipse avn5495. probably the best addition to the car. eclipse, pioneer, alpine all make good units.
me too... i put in Eclipse avn 6600 and it is like the exact system as the factory ones.... it works great and similar commands.
I love my Nakamichi almost as much as you do.
If you decide to go the stock route, there is a guy who either sells refurbished or fixes yours.
My tape deck works, I only have a single disk cd player now though.

I also have a 2000 LX470. I just finished replacing my perfectly good Nakamichi with a Kenwood DNX 7100 with nav and a back up camera. I bought it online, installed it myself and it ended up a little over $1k.

its pretty easy, just pull forward on the top part of the bezel around the radio and the clips will unsnap and the whole center console including ac controls etc will come forward. Then disconnect the connectors for the ac etc and thats it. The radio is held on by 4 screws/bolt and once you get those out the unit just slides out.
I have a Lexus refurbished Nak unit with the built in 6 disc changer/tape that functioned perfectly when I removed it from our 2000 LX recently. Shoot me a pm with an offer if your interested.
