LX 470 Blower Problems

LX 470 Blower Problems
I have a 1999 LX 470. A couple of years ago the heater/AC blower started making a bunch of noise. I removed it and found a clump of insulation like material had gotten tangled up in it and ruined the bearings. I replaced the blower and then last week the same thing happened. I looked and felt around in the dash but couldn't find where the insulation was coming from. I replaced the blower AGAIN and then yesterday the same out of balance growl returned. Another clump had gotten in the blower. Any help on where this insulation is coming from and how to stop it would be greatly appreciated. TIA.

Last night I got back under the dash and tried again to find the source of the insulation material. If I reach towards the center of the vehicle, I feel a filter. Is this replaceable? I don't have any shop manual and don't know how to get to the filter. Thanks for any help.

I went to the local Lexus dealer at lunch today and bought the two filters that are behind the glove compartment. They gave me basic instructions to replace the filters and I'll probably get that done tomorrow along with an extensive vacuuming of the passages while I'm in there.
