Even if it does fit there is the issue of the warning lamp.

See the post in the SC430 section I started. Normally on the first page. An ECU swap would also be needed.

Yes.

Best bet would be to contact Carson Toyota and ask them if the lights fit or if someone local can give it a try.

In a LED/diode, you get no conduction until you apply 0.7v to it, when you get full conduction. In other words, to the ECU, it'll look like an open circuit (i.e., bulb is burned out) and it'll then tick rapidly signaling a burned bulb. I believe one can remedy this (at home :-) ) using a sufficiently large resistor in parallel with the LED/LED unit. You want to trick the ECU into thinking there is a normal light bulb connected, yet you want the resistance to be high enough so you don't lose too much current in parallel. You also want to run a smaller resistor in parallel to the LED so you don't blow out the tail light fuse. All this would require some experimentation with a 12v battery, but at least it's not rocket science. IMHO, the LC LED tail lights look better than the LX ones.

***** guys, im trying the 06 LED on my car right now. I got a big problem, the inner tail lense doesnt fit on the 98. Now i have to bring it to my body shop so they custom my bottom rear hatch a lil bit to fit it in. Probably have to repaint my hatch again.

I wonder if this is the reason why an ad for LC/LX/GX parts in my Feb '06 issue of LC magazine says the '06 LX tail lamps will work in '03+ LC's.

the old rear hatch like i have, 98-02 wont fit the new LEDs. you have to have the 03-06 rear hatch, the one with the reverse lights mounted near the plate. Also, on my 2000 LX, i dont have any sort of bulb failure warning system on my gauge cluster.

Also where and how much did you get the 2006 leds from? Ive been thinking about doing a whole swap over to look like the new ones(windows, bumpers, running boards, tailgate, grille)

Also on both the LX and LC the turn signals are bulbs, are they not?

Hey guys
Has anyone tried the LED taillight from EBAY? Copy and paste "Lexus LX470 FJ100 LED Tail Lights Lamp Lamps 98-2006"

also will a Landcruiser rear taillight set up work? for 1999 Lx470?

Copy and Paste "98-05 TOYOTA LAND CRUISER ALTEZZA TAIL LIGHTS CH 03"

If you got any input please let it be known thanks Big Steve

ECU swap. Resisters will get very hot.
Or black tape.

There is an ECU for just the lights.

There is a replacement relay you can buy for the tails and signal light that has the resistors built in already to remedy the "tweaker blinkers" and "bulb out" indicators. Not sure if it works on the 100 series trucks, but it worked for my Lex car when I switched to LEDs.

I had a 98 LX, and now have the 06. Honestly I would not bother: the new lights are just as good and no better than the 'old' ones.
