how do you tell the version of the nav??
can upgrades be done via warranty?

 

IIRC hit the info button, then in the top right of the screen, hit the map dvd button. It will give the version #.
As for the upgraded dvd, you will have to pay the kings ransom at a dealership.

 

I have version 4. Is there really a big difference between 4 and 5????

It is simple for the LX470. The NAVI drive is underneath the passenger side seat. You should be able to see this drive once you slide the passenger seat forward towards the glove compartment. I believe you must remove few screws and bolts. There should be a eject button on the face side of this drive. This is the button to eject the map DVD inside the NAVI drive. I you are not a handy man person, probably take it into your favorite Lexus dealer and have them do the upgrade.

Make sure that you have the right generation NAVI map DVD, that is compatible for your vehicle. By the way, what model year is your vehicle? I believe that somebody here posted some PDF NAVI generation chart. Can somebody assist permarsh?
