Default iPad in dash

Found a really cool installation of an iPad in the dash of an LS460. Didn't think it would even fit to be honest.

Yeah that's a non nav. lots of room for one. I want to float mount a mini on top of the factory screen.

looks good!

This is being done more and more in the car scene. Cheaper method than a DDIN

Honestly, I'm not digging it at all. I have another solution for mounting my iPad in my car.... I'll try to take a pic of it tomorrow morning.

The installation is excellent. It almost looks factory installed.

However, that screen is positioned way too low. You really have to take your eyes quite a ways from the road in order to view it, not safe at all.

I'd love to have that, but where my stock nav screen is.

FWIW - that installation is super clean and seamless. The surround of that ipad looks almost OEM finish. Great installation.

It is! I'd love to see an iPad 3 replace the nav screen and what if someone could write software to control the factory stuff the nav controlled. I'd buy it without a doubt!

to clarify, i do believe the fit and finish of the install above is excellent based on these pics, but it is just too low in my opinion and concur with broken_tsi, a retrofit to replace nav screen with a tablet would be really nice. for now, I will just go and get the ivic android emulation from Vaistech to display my Galaxy Note 2 screen on my current NAV screen..it becomes a Google Tablet at that point, just smaller screen than iPad obvously.

Looks pretty cool and the quality of the work is stellar. It looks like it could be factory. In the end though when would one use it when driving. I have the bypass and can already play movies.
