I have a 460L and just curious, if there is any difference in the interior fit and finish. Also what is the difference between the driving expereinces. Can someone comment?

 

I have owned a ls 460l (air suspension) and currently own two LS 600s. Some people said that they prefer the spring suspension of ls 460 as opposed to the air suspension. One guy actually test drove my car in 2007, before ordering the same car with air suspension and after a few months of driving it, he traded it in because he wanted spring suspension. Personally, I didn't see why he made such a big deal out of it.

Anyway, even though both my cars had air suspension, the ride is quite different between the 460 and 600. The 460 is more "floaty" and frankly feels less stable as compared to the 600. The batteries in the 600 seem to change the center of gravity.. and in my opinion, the 600 is a much superior ride... not that the ls460 is a bad ride of course..

Even though the 600 has substantially higher horse power and torque (especially in the hybrid power mode), both cars are more powerful than I really needed them to be.. Wisconsin has highway robbers who have badges. Yes, on the day of your test drive and for the first few weeks, one would find the 600 to be exhilerating.. but frankly, with the 460, you are not missing too much..

The interior of the 600 is superior to the 460.. with more leather on the dash and doors (and suede ceiling). Its not "OMG" great but it does look superior to 460.

Bottom line: Yes the LS 600h offers a very uniquely superior driving experience as compared to the ls 460.

 

Thanks for the detailed post appreciate it. I am interested in upgrade to an LS 460L if it has an executive package. This package however seem to be more common on 600hl. So just trying to understand how the 600hl is actually is.

 

With or without executive package, you would certainly and pleasantly be surprised with the 600.. If you have a chance to trade in for a fair deal, it is absolutely worth considering..

 

600s have a leather wrapped dash I believe and the wood trim on the radio is a bit different but as for fit and finish they are about the same.

 

True because I have a loaded 460l with the suede headliner and the rear package with 4 zone ac and the radar cruise. And I'm very happy, the only thing I'm missing is the leather dash. I think if he upgrades to the L he will be vey happy.

 

Not sure about the radio wood trim, but the leather dash is awesome. I also love the 600's wood on the grab handles (on the roof) as well as on the overhead console (where the moonroof controls and map lights are). I've tried forever to find these pieces to add to my 460L. Also the shift **** is wood/chrome on the 600 as opposed to wood/leather.

 

lexus600hl described it perfectly. You can't make up that write up without having experience in both models. As he said only difference in the interior is the shift **** has a chrome accent to it and the dash is full leather. Small but subtle upgrades that many envy who have the 460. I prefer the air ride over the non air suspension but that is 99% on anyone's opinion which they like.
Driving the 600 is different because while heavier it is also 438hp AWD so it creates a strong feel to the ground, however combined with the air suspension can produce heavy body roll which the 460 is already notorious for.
