Default ls430 navigation upgrade

Hey guys,

I'm new in here and just got my ls430 on 6th of december...

Love the ride...

First of all im from switzerland, so sorry 4 my english, i do my best

Lets come to the topic,

I allready checked the search function but didn't found what im looking for

I would like to change the hole Navigation unit and search 4 a product witch would be able to connect an mp3 player(samsung s5) via usb or aux...
It should work with all the factory buttons in the car and i think this is the point...
I already checked out the VAIS (i think they're called like this) products but i wouldn't like to do modifications on my car but still just can use the maps from 2009.

I hope you understand what i try to explain and maybe someone can help me out or give me a link to a thread like this i didn't found.

You have very little choice. If you have the ML system it is even less. You are better off getting a VAIS or GROM adapter for your music and just using a 3rd party Nav like Garmin or TomTom.

I saw that comin... it just sucks to have a nice car with everything you need inside but the navigation looks like it is from 1990 and you cant update it to something new... i don't know if im the only one who see's it this way...

Anyway... thanks 4 your help...
I will continue me research on the internet but also think it will be the adapter solution

On 2001 July there was an new navigation ecu. On this ecu you can use maps from 2012.

If you have older ecu you can upgrade to the newer plug and play. Newer ECU has an OEM number 86841-13020. Thi is the way use newer maps with oem navi.

I am not sure is there possibility to upgrade to ECU form lift LS430.

Simon, if you're looking for a MP3 connection via USB, "without changing the maps from 2009," and which integrates into the OEM radio functions including all buttons on steering wheel, take a look at VaisTech MML. http://www.vaistech.com/site/mml.php Or if you want to connect your phone to play music via Bluetooth, try: http://www.vaistech.com/site/sl3b.php . VaisTech products are used by Lexus dealers.

Your 2001 Gen 2 Navigation system can be updated to a Gen 4 system by swapping out the Navigation player in the trunk. There are CL threads on this topic.
