Looking up Service/Maintenance History
I've started my search for a used LS430, and my question is how can you look up the Service/Maintenance History via the VIN. I've read other threads here saying go to Lexus.com and put in the VIN, but I can not find this via the Lexus.com site. What ever help the other CL members can give me would be greatly appreciated.
Advice I heard when I was searching:
- Use this sparingly, only for cars you are really interested in
- Remove the car from your list if you don't buy it.
Rumor has it that you could be banned from the site for "abusing" the service.

Thank you, and yes I can confirm that this does work. And yes I'm sure that it will not last.

Thanks for the tip. I've been using it the past few days to check the records on a few local LS430's.
I doubt anyone at Lexus is tracking the VIN ins and outs on vehicles and queries on this app and db. My educated guess is that the VINs are just added to the owner record to facilitate/allows queries on the existing general Lexus services history DB that they keep updated and available as part of dealership records on every car for all the service departments.
So unless thousands of owners/users get on the owner app at the same time and start banging at it - eating up bandpass and system resources, no one at the mother-ship IT dept is going to notice or squawk. Compared to other higher volume traffic going through the web portal the owner services history app is likely a low overhead system that they don;t need to track closely as it is not resource intensive enough to have any impact on the portal in general.

I think the "abuse" has more to do with privacy concerns and/or dealers wanting to be able to control what information you have about a car. I remember hearing somewhere that a dealer wouldn't provide a service history of a car because it supposedly violated the privacy of the previous owner.
I have heard and read about that also. I do think its appropriate for a Lexus service manager to be concerned about giving access to service history data when that data can still easily be associated with a current or specific previous owner.

Is the lexus site service fully accurate? I had called the owner and they said they did the 90k service but it didnt show when I put in the vin. It shows 30k service when it hit 90k miles. So I am not sure it was done or not.
