any chance obtaining one from your local junkyard? this piece is rather important, protecting the pan and directing airflow properly under the car. you can always just make one!
The one shown in above pictures, look like they just get a metal plate to its size, cut it a but then screw it on. Can actually see a few screws that are use to hold it up

it's more than just cutting, it needs strategic bends to duplicate the plastic part it's replacing
The diamond plate is nice. The metal supply out here sells 1/8" which is pretty thick though I haven't been in to see if there is thinner stock available. The under cover if bought from your dealer is ~$135. Unless one is going off road, purposely hitting every tire casing or debris on the road or driving through 4"+ puddles of water, the plastic is pretty durable.
About how thick the metal plate should be? I no longer have the one under the car engine that's why I wanting to custom a metal one and while I'm there I mind as well do the one covering up the catalytic converter etc
Well 1/8 in is a 30 gauge sheet. That is very thin but easy to bend. You probably want a little thicker metal. If you can cut and bend yourself than great. You could crawl under the car and make your own template with cardboard. Take it to a fab shop and determine what size sheet to use than.
