Hi, i have a 92 LS400 with the power seat problem described here:

Anyway, here's a picture of the whole seat opened up:

The arrow is pointing to the problem area. Here's a closer picture of that area:

Anyway, that's black rod in the picture is turned by a motor on the other side of the seat. The rod is supposed to fit into a "splined shaft" on the other side (circled picture 2), which turns the shaft and raises/lowers the seat. I've tried to slide the rod more towards the right (center console side) of the seat, but its not really budging.

What tool(s) have you used to get the rod of fit over the shaft?

If anyone is interested, i was able to fix this problem, at least for the time being. Ultimately, the solution did involve Krazy gluing the rod to the adjustor, but i ended up removing the entire backrest to get to the problem area. Sadly, i didn't get a picture of this, but trust me, it wasn't pretty.

I had to "peel" back the leather a bit to reveal 3 bolts on either side of the seat. These bolts hold the backrest to the adjustor arms. I found that the teeth on the adjustors had worn a bit and the rod was about to turn without engaging the teeth. I don't like using glue to fix anything, but in the case, it seems to be working.

I brought this thread up back to life. I'm about to attempt this on my seat. I get that weird twisting problem: my left side goes back but the right side doesn't.

Lexus sell a new rod for about $20. You should be able to pull the side out with a lever to get the old rod out. You find the splines inside the rod strip. Part #72501-30050

Thanks for the advice and part number. I haven't opened the seat up yet to take alook, but if the rod needs replacing, now I know exactly what to get
