LS500 Mark Levinson Diagrams
Audio is an insatiable quest. Anything that is good and great can be made better!
Im 61 and just had my hearing checked. Why? I have nice audio equipment at home also and one has to check connections and calibrations from time to time. My ears are the most critical piece of equipment I have!!! LOL
I'm a newbie coming form a 2020 GS with ML that I really liked. This 23 speaker system is glorious to my ears.
But as they say, no right or wrong when it comes to this hobby. I recall talking to a rather well known sound engineer for a very respected company and he gave me good advice:
"Over the top is fun, just be careful that more is not always better".
I wanted to start tweeking the LS ML system but wanted to get some schematics on it before diving in...at this point I am researching. I'm happy with the system but feel it lacks the lower frequencies. For the sake of keeping the whole system "stock" I've been looking all over the place and speaking with appropriate rep's to gain some of this data but apparently it seems to be more of a trade secret. Someone has got to have some kind of schematics somewhere lol

Only had my 2019 two weeks ad finally got to sit in the back seat on the right side. Bass is "different" there which surprised me.. I have a small bias to the rear. The Quantum effect was more profound there also. Maybe becuase they have the "ML Reference" labels on them?
Just kidding.
I'm undecided to my final settings. The surround effects are both annoying and enjoyable. Im going with the soundstage open effect of 3d for now and its quite good. I know its a bit of a gimmick but they are fun too? Im ok for it to not have an concert effect in a car. My preference is not urban bass thump but mid kick in the chest. I do find if the content has bass it will be there. If not, its thin but its not the system to blame.
Detail is quite good on this thing.
Bass? when I calibrate my home system using 2 15 inch sealed subs with good reputation in a 20x20 room well insulated using a sound measuring tool, I'm usually going to turn it up a bit after but at least I have a reference point. The ML really is quite balanced. I usually lower treble one notch, turn up mid and bass up one. Thats it. Let the amp do the work from there. I understand the effects of fatigue and am patient in my settings.
I need some time to play with the surround modes and see what is best. The quantum speakers in the ceiling are so unobtrusive its crazy! Does any setting shut them off? 2D? Off?
Yesterday I crawled about and put my ear to them to see how the system put out its effect.
Im not a sound engineer nor play one on tv, but too have have made it a lifelong hobby of sorts. There is so much going on with this system and would enjoy if you shared some observations if you get to tweaking and having fun with it.

as for the settings...i found the 2d sounds the best overall as the "off setting is a bit flat and the 3d setting sounds like it has a bit of an echo or distant sounds (not sure how to explain this sound).
there is no remote connection on the ML amp so I had to find another fuse that would do the same...I ended up using the Lugg-ACC no. 2 in the fuse box on the left lower trunk. initially used audio trigger mode on the LC2 but it was getting humming noises and wouldnt shut off the amp. I disconnected the microphone in the rear to clear out the droning sounds that were coming out of the subs as well.
