Default Closing trunk from inside?

im hoping this is due to silly user error on my side, but is there anyway to close the trunk from the inside? I can open the trunk with the trunk release button sitting in the driver seat, but pushing the button again does not close anything. What am I missing?

Lexus SUV's can open and close the tailgate from the inside button and the fob button but your LS and
my ES300h sedans can only open the trunk The SUV gates have a pressure sensor in the edge molding that
reverses the mechanism if it is trapping a hand (or head!) but our sedans don't have that safeguard.

It is a hoot to remotely open the trunk when approaching with a grocery cart and a kid is passing by
the back of my car. One particularly effective time the child was dragging his hand on my bumper top...

thanks for the insight. Wow, surprised Lexus missed this feature. Not only are we missing the convience, but it sounds like the safety aspect as well?
