Default Parking brake delay

Does anyone out there know why it takes a full 2 1/2 seconds for the parking brake to engage after you press the park button? This is highly annoying when I stop (on a hill) to jump out and get the mail out of the mailbox on the way home. Surely there is a fix for this somewhere.

More than likely because it is electronic and is clamping. also most car companies electronic brake is about this fast. BMW and Mercedes and Audi both engage that slow.

Mine doesn't seem to take this long. I would say around 1 second after I press P.

Neither my 460L or 430 did it.

You might want to get it checked. My 500 does it in the same time as the 460.

I currently have a RX loaner 2018 with 4K miles and it takes about 1 1/2 seconds to engage. Maybe you could be right, bring it in and see what they say.

Someone out there do me a favor and grab a stopwatch and time how long it takes from pushing the park button until the parking break actually engages. Mine averages 2.75 seconds, which is ridiculous. Thanks

I tend to just wait an extra moment before taking my foot off the brake so the parking brake has a chance to engage.

I will check once I'm off work and get to the garage, unless someone beats me to it.

Used a stopwatch and got around 1-1 1/2 second before it was engaged. I did find that if I backed in and rushed by pulling my foot off brake right after pressing the parking brake it took a little longer but never got to 2 secs or more.

On my GS350 the parking brake would engage instantly, and I had it set to auto. The problem was the suspension would squeak when I steeped out. I asked the dealer and they said it engages so fast that the suspension is still compressed and with the wheels locked nothing can move properly so it created a squeak. When I got the LS, the first think I noticed was no squeak, but now the slight delay annoys me because the car will move a little if I don't wait a second to release the brake.
