Default Brake Calibration, when and why

I found a lot of good posts in this forum about diy brake jobs on LS460. Replacing the pads and rotors seems to be a straight forward job. Bleeding however is slightly more difficult as Techstream is needed. I just went through it... after finishing the job I did test the brakes on a test bench; the performance results are perfect.
Anyways, I have not seen any comments about recalibration and the manuals doe not say anything either. So I am not sure if I have to do it or not. Moreover I have read some posts about warning lights coming up after some time and actuators failing. Does somebody know when and why recalibration of the brakes has to be performed? And what went wrong when the actuators fail after a brake job?
many thanks for sour hints!
