Default Do You Need Infotainment Screen Protector?

I own an F150 with a 12" Sync screen. Detailed the cars this weekend and despite using microfiber cloth and being gentle, like always, I seem to have put micro-scratches into my infotainment screen on the Ford. I'm extremely bummed. Used microfiber on the screen for 2 years and never had a problem. I guess maybe my cloth today already had too much dust or dirt or something and I just made an unfortunate mistake. Can't see it normally but in bright sunlight it really shows up now.

Some folks seem to say a screen protector should cover up the micro-scratches and then if you ever damage the screen protector you can just replace it (like a cell phone screen protector). Fingers crossed on the Ford that it works. I will add that I don't understand why the screens are so sensitive. I even noticed an index finger-sized print of micro-scratches where an icon I frequently use is always on the screen. So I get the impression I may have made things worse with the cloth but even just through normal use it is getting scratched. And it apparently isn't a Ford thing only. I found Nissan and Honda owners with similar issues.

Anyway, it seems to me that the LS may have a glass screen? Does anyone know for sure? The Ford feels more like plastic, the Lexus feels thicker and more solid.

Screen protector a good idea for the LS also? Any recommendations? Ordered Spigen for the Ford, a brand I've been satisfied with on my iPhones over the years, but doesn't appear they make anything for the LS.

My guess is you have a 2021 or new LS? as the 18-19 had the screen pushed into the dash with a protection on it. as for screen protectors I have not heard of any. The screen does have a layer over it for protection from scratches but doesn't mean it can't happen. I would probably not use a microfiber as it would need to be clean and new each time as the microfiber it supposed ton catch everything even small dirt. I would get a screen cloth, the same used for glasses unless that's what you have?
