Diff.Fluid and Brake Fluid Changes
Nearing 60kmiles on my L/Certified 2020 LS500 AWD.
Dealer says time for servicing.
Diff. Fluid= 2x $250.
Brake Fluid= $250.
Dealer claims if I don’t have these done and have a related problem that warranty may not cover it.
I hate messing with stuff like this, especially the brake fluid.
I’m in a quandary as to what to do, tempted to leave the brake fluid alone. Warranty isn’t going to cover normal brake wear anyway.
Dealer says time for servicing.

I have just over 80K mi on mine now and my dealer never tried to sell me the differential fluid replacement.
Here is what is in the 60K schedule:
- Replace engine oil and oil filter (0W-20)
- Rotate tires and adjust tire pressures as required
- Replace air conditioner filter
- Replace brake fluid
- Replace engine air filter
- Replace smart key battery*
- Reset maintenance reminder light
- Road test vehicle
- Check installation of driver's floor mat*
- Inspect drive belt(s)
- Inspect axle shaft boots
- Inspect ball joints and dust covers
- Inspect body
- Inspect brake lines and hoses
- Inspect brake rotor thickness and runout
- Inspect engine coolant
- Inspect exhaust pipes and mounting
- Inspect fuel lines and connections, fuel tank band and fuel tank vapor vent system hoses
- Inspect fuel tank cap gasket
- Inspect rack and pinion steering assembly
- Inspect steering linkage and boots
- Inspect transmission fluid
- Visually inspect brake pads, calipers and rotors

Lexus LS 500 Maintenance Schedule

Differential Oil
In my Warranty and Services Guide, the only mention of changing differential oil is on the LS500 with F Sport package.
Could it be that Lexus is requiring this on all LS500 models that are under L/Certified warranty?
I will call my service advisor Monday. I’m sure he will have an answer. Maybe there is a TSB on it.
I’m sure I paid dearly for the certified warranty.
It would be interesting if somebody out there is racking up a million miles living in their certified LS500.
No more than I drive, it may have been a foolish decision. Whatever the case, I love the car and if Lexus requires a service to maintain the unlimited mileage certified warranty, then I suppose I will go along with it.
Apparently I am supposed to have an L/Certified By Lexus Warranty Supplement and Roadside Assistance Guide. I haven’t found it, but it is available online.
It states:Your dealer may recommend more frequent intervals than those outlined in your Owner's Manual or may include items that are in addition to those in your Owner's Manual. These additional services are not required to maintain your warranty coverage. Please see your dealer for an explanation of any maintenance recommendations that are not part of your vehicle's maintenance schedule.
