Default 2024 Changes Released

Looks like finally got the info for the 2024 model. https://pressroom.lexus.com/whats-new-2024-lexus-ls/
  • Wireless cell phone charger standard on LS 500 and LS 500h
  • Head-Up Display, Digital Key capability, and 12.3-inch multi-information display (MID) now standard on LS 500
  • New exterior color: Silver Illusion
  • New wheel colors and designs available, exclusive to LS models

looks like also upgrade to Lexus Safety System 3.0.

what I’m a little confused about is the MID. They’re talking about the speedometer and tach area, correct? Not the radio/climate screen?

pretty sure I have it correct as I found a link to Japan 2024 LS and it clearly has a new Speedo and tach display (see photo gallery) https://www.motor1.com/news/690015/2024-lexus-ls-details-specs/

Anyway seems a few nice upgrades.

The 2024 build and price is also up on Lexus.com. Haven’t played with it much but it appears that perhaps a few things are mandatory in 2024 that weren’t in 2023. For example I think the interior upgrade package now forces you to get air suspension and pano camera.

Has it been confirmed the LS will be discontinued?

Some quick snooping around at Google reveals the Silver Illusion has already been available for a few years in Canada. Nice color though.

I think they're just referring to the preexisting touchscreen. There are so few changes being made for 2024 that they included pre-existing features in the description to pad it up a bit: "2024 LS gas models come standard with Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 (LSS+ 3.0), Digital Key capability, Head-up Display, and a 12.3-inch MID." https://pressroom.lexus.com/whats-new-2024-lexus-ls/

Interesting about HUD being made standard. They may have an inventory of HUD units that they're looking to push out, and given the low sales volume they just figured throw it in as standard.

Just FYI the 2024 does, indeed, have a new upgraded speedometer gauge cluster. Few 2024s are arriving at dealers and the gauge cluster is clearly different from 2023.

What is the rectangular "box" on top of the steering column in 2024?

Not sure I like the new 20" 20 spoke wheels. Supposedly the same vapor chrome finish as 2023 but they look less shiny and not as sporty as 2023.

FYI I think the build your own on the lexus site still shows the 2023 wheels even though the description is updated for 2024.

I had a 2023 RX loaner that had that box in black. I believe it somehow senses if your eyes are off the road for couple of seconds and gives off a warning.

It was a bit annoying but would be great if all cars had these especially young drivers that look at their phones too often.

New wheels definitely a downgrade. Looks cheap.

Default You can buy 4 sets of these for what Lexus charges for wheels.

I'm pretty sure that one was the Iridium

There is a teeny-tiny bit out there on the Silver Illusion paint from Canada. I guess the color has been available there for a few years. To me it sorta looks like it might be less silver and less blue hue than Iridium, more metallic or molten steel maybe? But not as tan looking as Atomic.

I'm hoping to see one in person at some point here. Generally I find these colors on the LS really hard to get a feel for without seeing in person. I like Iridium at times but then in certain light there is a very very blue look to it, which I don't like. On a YT video it looks great.

Atomic is another one. See it on photos or video and it looks like champagne tan, which is not good for me. But then in person it really ends up being much brighter and more silver than you realize.

White is another one... ends up often looking more cream.

So who really knows. Problem is the inventory is just so low on these cars you wait forever for things to show up at the dealer to have a look.

Finally got to check out a 2024 in the flesh yesterday.

The new 20" vapor finish wheels are a definite improvement over the 2023's. I actually thought for sure I'd prefer the 23's but no way. The 24's are really nice.

The new gauge cluster is a definite improvement too. Nothing mind-blowing but a clear upgrade over the old dash.

Didn't really try or experience any of the other changes.
