Default Aftermarket wheels question?

My first question is, what aftermarket lug nuts are you guys using? Because it seem there's not too many option in 14x1.5. And my second question is for those of you who are running 22's, why are most of you using a 25 profile tire in the rear? Because you want to keep it close to stock size? Anyone using a 30 series in the rear? I'm sketched out about about using a 25 series tire on such a big car.

You realize the series size really means nothing if you don't take the width in consideration. 25 with a 295 or a 305 is a fairly decent size sidewall.

I do, but I had 265/30 on my IS and that didn't seem much I can't imagine 285/25 is any better.

I'm in the same boat with you & not to mention there's not too many options tire wise in 285/25/22

25's are not as bad as it looks..

I'm using stock like lugs until I research a good aftermarket one. There doesn't seem to be many options for the 14mm lugs. I run a 295/25/22 to keep it close to OEM tire diameter. Yes 25 is pretty thin.

I had to cop some gorilla tuner style lugs because my wheels wouldn't allow for oem.. being that said I guess it depends if you have wheel caps or not. 25 series dont look any different from 30 series but I think it is to try to keep as close to stock as possible. If you plan on lowering your car, that make a difference if you rub or not. There are other brands like project kicks, muteki, rays and etc but very hard to find 14x 1.5..

Get the gorilla system lugs on amazon and call it a day..all 5 are locks and look great..I also have the "spinner" gorilla lock on each wheel for added piece of mind...25 series tire rides just fine as long as load rating is 97..no worries

Just to add, the Gorilla "System" includes 20 chrome lugs that are all actually locks. They come with a key that goes over the lug and engages the back of the lug based on the key splines. I also ordered the Gorilla Guard Spinner locks and substituted one of the system locks for one of those per wheel for just another layer of security. At the end of the day, I'm sure if they want the wheels bad enough, they will either take the car or tear up something trying to get them off. I figure make it hard. The thought on the Gorilla Guard spinner is that wheel thieves often hammer on a slightly larger socket onto the lock and just turn it..hard to do with this spinning sleeve lock. Also, most wheels these days have such tight lug openings, thats not an option anyway..so they just try to shatter the locks. But, having 5 locks on each wheel should deter most novice thieves..they just don't have that kind of time in most cases, but again..nothing is 100%.

Sitting by your car with a .45 cal is probably the best protection lol..

Anyway, here are some pics and part numbers from Amazon...I got both sets for under $60 shipped on Amazon.

Please be sure to check out this sticky thread for other wheel/tire setups here in the LS460 forum..this is a very informative thread that hopefully more folks contribute to so everyone can benefit even more https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls4...ls-thread.html

The goal of plus sizing is keeping close to original diameter height as possible.

Stock tire is 235/50/18 has a overall diameter of 27.3"

245/30/22 is 27.8"
*Although this size will work, it is slightly below recommended load index with 93 XL rating, therefore 255/30/22 is better choice with a 95 XL load rating. I ran 265/30/22 up front, but was rubbing on suspension components and fender edge..running 245 now and its just fine. My tire choice does not come in 255/30/22, so I went with 245s.

255/30/22 is 28.0"

265/30/22 is 28.3"

295/25/22 is 27.8"

305/25/22 is 28.0"

I would love to run 255/30 and 305/25 on my next set of tires..a little wider and avoid some of the stretched look at the edge of the wheel. 305/25 is a rare size and I believe only Toyo Proxies have that option, perhaps there are more..not sure.

Interesting..I thought our OEM wheels had flat seat lug type and after market wheels required acorn lugs..most after market wheels require a 60 degree tapered acorn lugnut. I'm wondering if your OEM lugs are not properly securing your after market wheel. Do they ever get loose or require frequent retorque-ing to 105 ft lbs?
