P050A sputtering start
Car struggles to cold start and has logged a P050a. I've already done some preliminary reading so I understand where to start but perhaps someone has had this issue before and knows exactly what part to tackle?
Thank you lwphat, that eliminates a lot of googling. I was going to start with the MAF and work from there. I saw miket solved his rich issue recently by cleaning it up.
Boykie, that's the code that was pulled from a quick Bluetooth code scan. I can hook up techstream tomorrow and pull more accurate code information.
The DTC does seem to exist for Toyotas as siennamanuals had a pretty detailed breakdown of how the code is set and it seems to line up with my failed/long ignitions.

With the amount of oil you're consuming I'd pull a spark plug out to check for oil contamination. If your cats are clogged maybe that could cause the rich condition ( lack of airflow). I want to see a screen shot of your codes after a techstream health check. Misery loves company

Apologies for the epic necro, I lost motivation to work on the car for a while.
It was indeed a bad battery after just 5 years. I guess the age old adage stands. Start with the easiest thing first.
A new 800CCA battery solved the issue, though the electronics of the car are still absolutely vampiric, forget the car in IGN mode for more than half an hour and the hundreds of on board computers will suck the life out of the best batteries.
