Back to the Fold
A year and a half ago my sister in law totaled by beloved 06 LS430. At the time I replaced it with an 03 BMW 325i. I was looking for something more sporty with a manual transmission. My wife and I have really missed having the LS for travel, and also the capability of carrying another couple in comfort. I have missed the serenity of the LS on my daily commute, and recently I have gotten tired of having to work on the BMW. It has been a regular challenge to keep the BMW going down the road.
I have found a mint condition 07 LS with 70,000 miles. I paid over KBB to get it, but of course far less than new, After driving it home 200 miles yesterday I am so pleased. What an awesome machine. On top of the smoothness, quiet cabin, super nice stereo, power, and ride, I got an average 26 mpg.
I had firmed up the suspension a little on the 430 I had previously with mild lowering springs and a sport rear sway bar. I will be looking for advice on hardware that will help improve the agility while still keeping the suspension compliant. I am considering going coil overs. It looks like the only standard shocks available are either KBB or Monroe, which was the same on the 430. I had tried both on the 430 and found both to be not quite stiff enough. Bilstiens would do the trick if they exist. Please let me know what set-up will give me more stability in dynamic situations, without making the ride harsh.
