Default Has anyone cammed their LS460?

Was wondering if anyone has put in any aftermarket camshafts for the 460? can’t find any videos on youtube… i think it’ll sound absolutely crazy. seen 2 company’s on the net selling their own cams but would love some feed back from the people. pros/cons what and, what not to do? what also needs upgrading?
thank you

Car is fairly high performance already. 379 hp and torque from 281 cu in is excellent. And heavy. 4200 pounds. Sorry for the non metric. I cannot tell it’s idling. Zero vibrations

XAT and MWR? I'm wondering why they cram all UR-FSE's together. There were numerous changes to camshafts with according ECM software revisions and vvti gears.
In any case - those will definitely require ecm tuning. It's possible nowadays with LS4 ecm's, but haven't seen any ecm tuned LS in the wild.

Woah woah woah, holdup. Elate is actually making a kit for us?

The cams are pointless on these engines, they are already insanely good for a 281 (I call it a a 282 since I also own a 262 and 252 and it's just easier for me....) in terms of TQ/CI and have amazingly broad powerbands due to ACIS and the VTTi-e systems on top of the DI timing and crazy compression. Most engines of this level are over 5L/300CID if NA....for the cams to get you anything you need better heads and ability to spin to 8500rpm to back it up.

i used to build small block chevys of various displacements. This 282 takes the cake. Ultimate small block engine. 50 years later small block. And it’s extremely reliable. Blue printed literally

appreciate the info everyone! obviously it will be awesome to gain more horse from the cam but what got me thinking about doing it was for that choppy V-8 sound, want my car to sound absolutely ridiculous LOL… if i can get more power great,, but if not i’m just fine with the sound.

My thinking would be to find a toyota v8 aware exhaust shop and ask them for a ridiculous sounding setup.

scientifically engineered luxury car. No way or need except for you, to make it something it’s nots. 300 engineers made it. You want someone to make it a street rod?

What would you change in the cam profile? Lobe separation could be increased but that is a software function controlling the variable valve timing. Lift could be increased slightly but then you can have valve to piston problems. Porting the heads and runner matching and polishing would be the best way to go in my opinion.

Thanks for all the info regarding the slight ticking noise, it is nice to confirm that the sound is normal and everything is running smooth. I purchased the LS for the serene peaceful experience that only an LS can offer, I’ve had my share of all kinds of muscle cars over the years. Turning this into something it was not meant to be is the age old “because you can”, good luck all!

It's already cammed from the factory. Power peak is right at the 6400 RPM redline.

It probably wouldn't be noticeable unless you had a full exhaust system, headers, the works. I want to do cams too but they aren't cheap and if there is no power gain what is the point. I recently swapped my Varex mufflers out for Valvetronic Designs mufflers and they sound insane under acceleration. Need to find the time to make some videos.
