Default Control Arms

I have a 2010 LS460 and just replaced my 4 lower control arms with Moog and two new KYB front shock absorbers along with 4 wheel alignment. I've noticed on certain pavement that I hear a metallic rattle underneath the front of the car. I'm thinking maybe they were installed loose or maybe they weren't set properly. Or perhaps the brake pads could be loose inside the brake caliper? I have no idea. Any thoughts? Thank you in advance.

Ah. Didn't think about that. Thank you. I'll look into that.

Sorry for the late reply. Been off the page for a minute. So far no ride degradation. Houston roads are just rough so it is what it is but most roads that aren't like craters it's fine. Well with the money. No way would I buy arms from Lexus at those prices. Get a competent suspension shop and you should be fine.

If it is the pads/ worn brake hardware you can reach in with the wheels still mounted and do this. I had this issue. It was only certain size expansion joints in the road causing the noise.

hey mike thanks for sharing

when going over bumps could the noise be heard from inside the cabin? (top of rear shock absorber)

houston roads are the worse we are neighbors i’m in houston as well decided on beck arnly upper arms the steering feedback has greatly improved. the lower front arms will be beck arnly and lower main arm will be 2013 + oem

a majority of my funds spent on OEM shocks and strut mounts making ride quality excellent, I have now learned everything other than shock absorber can be purchased from Amayama for reasonable prices

I just posted this in my repair thread, as I did this myself…if you replaced the lower control arms and tightened the stabilizer links without weight, then they will rattle. I noticed during alignment while the car was on the rack with tires/weight on them. Stabilizer links were severely loose/rattling, even though I tightened them to torque settings with no tires on. Just a thought if you’ve done work on lowers.

That's an interesting combo. I was considering Beck Arnley as well. Didn't realize the 2013's would work on our years. I'll look into Amayama as well. Thanks for the insight. Ride quality and steering feedback is key for me.

Thank you. I believe I saw that about the stabilizer links somewhere on here before. I will have them checked when I do my next alignment. So far no rattles or noise that I can hear so far.

The more important thing than what brand you pick is that you do all 8 at once and tighten them with the car on the ground or double jacked on each lower control arm.

They now are being subjected to increased stain since they are softer and old vs the new ones. Force takes the path of least resistance and multi link suspensions are very touchy about all parts being the same amount of wear

I get it. The plan is to change them as well but I had to keep the economics down since I replaced the front shocks as well.
