Default Audio/Navigation display buttons backlighting problem

2010 Lexus 460 L. All the buttons circled in RED don't have backlighting. However, they all function. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

I read in a previous thread that it's an issue that was covered under warranty - they replace the whole unit. My "DISC" button doesn't light up on my '07 LS.
No harm in asking your dealer if it's still covered.

There is a number of ways to fix the issue if warranty is not available:
- replace the unit
- replace PCBs holding LEDs
- replace failed LEDs

If replaced LEDS, make to replace even those that did not fail yet.

It is 11 years old car (2010) and I doubt the warranty is still available. Replacing the whole unit is probably very expensive. Where do I find the part number for the PCB? I do have a soldering gun and replacing the failed LED might be the cheaper option. Do you have a link for where to buy the LEDs?

No, pcbs and leds are not sold separately. You'll have to get a junked headunit and scavenge leds.

Going to the dealership later today and check to see if it is still under warranty. Otherwise, will look for a junked headunit. Thanks a lot!

Update: Just back from the dealership and found no warranty. The whole replacement unit (not even OEM) would cost $2600 + labor + tax...

We offer a repair service, which is sure to save you a ton!

2007 AND NEWER LEXUS LS460 INTERIOR SWITCH LIGHTING REPAIR

Starting around 2004 Lexus, Toyota, Honda, and other manufacturers switched from interior bulb lighting to LED. The idea was that LED lasted longer than simple bulbs that you could twist out and replace.
Unfortunately, we are starting to see complex LED failures in many interior switches, *****, and indicator panels. The solution is fine circuit board work, soldering, desoldering, and replacing many microscopic LEDs.
Aside from our repair service for automotive interior lighting, the only solution is to purchase a brand new switch from the dealer. These can run up to $250 or more per switch.
The last photo is from a customer's car after the lighting repair was complete.
We can repair all of the switch lighting inside Lexus LS460 models from 2007 to the present.

The price varies by the number of switches, but they all come with a lifetime warranty.
ClubLexus members get 5% off with coupon code "ClubLexus5"
The current turnaround time is 2 weeks.

You'll have use of your car. The head unit is removed and mailed for repair. DIY may easily be a case of getting in over your head plus where to source correct leds.

May very well be too difficult for DIY. Although would be helpful to know if its the LED's failing or the soldering. I've noticed some the lights flickering on and off and some are dimly lit

Leds themselves are failing. Reduce your brightness - that's what kills them prematurely. Max brightness.
