I'm happy with Viofo A129 dual. Here's a dash cam forum https://dashcamtalk.com/forum/. I suggest you also consider comments about the software used to view your videos by each brand. Some aren't very user friendly or don't play well with Mac. I had a Thinkware previously and the software lacked. Maybe it's been improved since then. Also, some units include the wiring for parked monitoring while others charge a lot of money for the optional cable. Be sure to use a micro SD card rated for extreme use or you will be replacing the standard card frequently.

I have bought mine based on the forum advice and the ratings and after my $31,000 accident and the ticket saga I have bought another one for my wife, we are not driving without ever since.....

I also suggest that you check YouTube. There were some comparisons of 1080 vs 2k vs 4k and the results showed that there's more to high resolution than just the numbers. High resolution data fills the memory card fast. Also the resolution can be severely diluted when running the rear cam as it shares the chip with the front cam.

This is far from "mid-priced". It was something I was considering but decided to pass. It combines a dash cam with a radar/laser detector.

This is proven, small and inexpensive.

Having a 4K camera doesn't help much from what I've seen you can't resolve plate numbers much better if at all.
