Can anyone advise me of precautions or protocols when changing the battery? 2 years in the TX heat, and mine has given up the ghost!
Is it necessary to go to a service provider to re-program any electrical systems?

off the cat, wait 20 mins then take off ground then power, I suggest you go with a solid state battery what do they call those I forget…if you care to spend a bit more money
