Default Help with OBD code P0713 Temp Sensor

Good Afternoon.
We got a OBD code P0713 Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor "A" Circuit High. While driving the car is stalling and not allowing to drive when pressing the gas pedal. We called the dealer and they mentioned that it could be the transmission temp sensor part #821-2550061 or it needs transmission fluid change. Our car is 2010 LS460 non Levenson AWD.

Anyone has had this issue and if you could provide some direction how to fix it? Also, where is the location of this sensor and do you have to replace the transmission oil while changing it?

Thank you!

Before replacing anything, confirm that the transmission fluid level is correct. How many miles do you have on your car?

Thank you for your reply. The car has 164K miles. It was shifting right and this just happened after we powerwashed/degreased the engine bay.

You should have started with that. There might a short somewhere due to water. In my opinion, power washing an engine bay is a terrible idea. Nevertheless, you will have to locate the harness responsible for the temperature sensor and dry it.

The temp sensor and wiring are located in the valve body per parts drawing. We will check it out.

Here's an update on our problem. The Trans temp sensor is part of a harness part #821-2550061. The harness is inside the bottom valve cover. I have attached the part diagram. This solved our issue.

Thanks!
