Now my question for you guys is what should I do if they wouldn't want to total it ? My car value is probably well over the repair cost, unless I don't know what I'm talking about.

couple of suggestions..
first I think your car has about 25k worth of damage
so its close to being totaled

first make sure you connect with your insurance company and make sure the car is brought to a lexus certified repair shop for the adjustor to do the estimate.
dont settle on a third rate repair job
so the outcome will be they total it and you get a check
or they repair it and you get your car done right at a lexus certified shop and you can sell it after the repair.

Start talking about diminished value.

I don’t think there’s any way back for this one. When the rear quarter panels get crumpled that’s pretty much all she wrote.

Dang! I second the "using phone and driving" suspicion. I see people driving in the towns, highways, etc. with their face in their phone. I do NOT understand that logic.

Where in Chicago or Illinois area did this happen?

I hope you went to the hospital. You will likely feel the crash by day three. You'd be amazed at how much you can actually be injured (and sometimes permanently) by a crash like that. Better to have a hospital visit on record now than have to come back to it later. The likelihood of injury in a crash like this is actually very high.
