2016 LS 460 Accident

Well, yesterday my "new" to me 2016 LS 460 with only 11,000 miles was hit in the back by a girl driving very fast and not paying attention ,she just hit me without even braking, the impact was terrible, her car is a wreck, fortunately I have everything on the camera, my insurance is currently taking care of it. Looking at the car it seems to me that there is structural damage, will see what the appraiser decides but I intend to ask them to total the car, would appreciate any input from you guys.

Ouch...at least youre okay!

It might not be totaled, but its going to be very expensive. Remember my trunklid was $7,000.

It's totaled .......

I would think the insurance company would total it.

If they do, see what they want for it. If you could pick it up for a song, you could get it fixed. and be way ahead of the game even with a salvage title.

Sorry, man. There is a high chance, it is a total loss. But you get to pick other new to you LS460!

Illinois is a Total Loss Formula state, so it's up to the insurance company. If it's close, find some more broken parts :)

Glad you're ok. Good chance it's totaled. Girl was most likely texting. A friend of mine got hit from the back exactly like that by a texter. She was injured pretty bad.

I'm OK thank you, they've just took some X-rays at one of my hands, it is swollen but no fracture. The damage is worst than you see in the pictures, after the hit the car stopped running (it was -2 outside) and it was towed, one muffler was hanging underneath along with other "stuff". The closest Lexus Certified Collision Center is at about 150 miles in Schaumburg, this is where I've requested to be towed unless they decide to total the car. I've had the car since September and really, really loved it, will see. Maybe is time for another Mercedes, a newer one beside my SL 550 and CL 600, my wife will probably kill me ! Will be difficult to do not have a LS 460, there are couple with less that 10,000 miles on the market....who knows.

First thing after I was hit was to run fast and see how was she, she seemed ok crying and asking for forgiveness, man I was so happy to see her alive, her car is completely gone, turned 360 degrees and ended on the other side of the road, it was a young and not so rich girl car.... then her family came to grab her they did not say anything to me, well everybody was in shock, I guess she was really close to say goodbye to this world, her airbags deployed, engine was pushed and so on, I have never seen something like this...

its crazy times out there, people are driving like zombies, and also using their vehicles like a weapon the way they have no regards for others.
sad state of affairs, but now we all have 40 plus percent in taxes hopefully everyone will chill out behind the wheel

You're right but believe it or not I'm a retired guy who lived in 4 countries and it is my first accident, I wasn't in a good mood last night, but at the end of the day everybody was ok and the is the most important thing.

Yeah, difficult times, people are out of their jobs, no medical insurance,Covid exposed, the anxiety of staying indoor, etc the traffic is way worse these days, well....

be happy you had a nice huge wheelbase car to protect you.. if you were in a smaller non LS car you could have been hurt, that's why its important with all the craziness to prioritize a vehicle to protect self and family
