I don't think so. Jason makes a thin plate with a notch cut out of it that you install between the exhaust pipe connection towards the rear of the car that lets some exhaust come out right there and creates a deeper tone. I was running 1 spacer for a while but felt like it was too quiet so I added another. It's just right for me now.
How is that able to pass DOT emission inspections? I assume you get enough coming out the tail to meet test but isn't this (morally) wrong to the smallest degree? I'm not judging, i read a post where an inspector saw it and didn't say anything. I agree the sound is great but it seems to me it's similar to when i was VERY young the older boys would put a hole in the muffler to get a throatier sound.

Mufflers don't really affect emissions, that's primarily the cats' job.
